Research published out of Montana State University (MSU) will now reach wider audiences and be more accessible owing to a new partnership between the university and Wiley publishing.
The MSU Library recently signed a four-year “read and publish” agreement with Wiley. The agreement began Jan. 1 and extends through Dec. 31, 2026.
Under the terms of the agreement, MSU library users have access to more than 1,200 Wiley journals. In addition, MSU authors may publish their articles open access in Wiley Hybrid and Gold Open Access journals. The agreement allows for approximately 40 open access articles to be published by MSU authors each year.
The agreement advances open access research at MSU, which is important because it means the work of MSU-affiliated authors who are publishing in Wiley journals will be available to a much larger audience because it is not behind an online paywall, said Hannah McKelvey, MSU electronic resources and discovery services librarian.
As articles become more widely accessible, their potential impact also becomes greater. According to Rachelle McLain, MSU collection development librarian, this is the seventh such agreement the library has with publishers.
