Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest, US, has announced that it has added over 500,000 eBooks from more than twenty providers to Serials Solutions KnowledgeWorks, the e-resource knowledgebase. KnowledgeWorks provides the foundation for Serials Solutions 360 by integrating reliable metadata with all of the Serials Solutions 360 e-resource access and management services.
Patrons can now search for and find eBook collections through 360 Core, 360 Link and 360 Search. Libraries can effectively manage eBooks with 360 Resource Manager. In mid-July, the 360 MARC Updates OPAC updating service will make the same eBooks collections available to the OPAC.
The professional librarians at Serials Solutions work closely with content providers to develop and maintain an accurate and up-to-date knowledgebase. Serials Solutions' librarians correct missing and erroneous data received from content providers and then normalise titles across vendors to create authority sources. This higher quality data provides search results, better MARC Records, better connections, and more accurate subscription management and analysis.
Serials Solutions KnowledgeWorks is projected as the most accurate and comprehensive knowledgebase, and is the only knowledgebase that provides integration for a complete e-resource access and management solutions. As of May 2008 KnowledgeWorks included over 7,000 databases, 125,000 unique titles, 500,000 eBooks, and 1,500,000 Authority MARC records.
