Publisher Multi-Science Publishing, UK, recently announced that it is one of the five publishers to have been selected for the Knowledge Exchange international journal licensing project. Knowledge Exchange is a consortium formed from the national libraries of the UK, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Knowledge Exchange is founded on an agreement between four partner organisations in an effort to improve the digital infrastructure for information and communication technology as it relates to the research and university library sectors. The organisations are: Denmark's Electronic Research Library (DEFF) in Denmark; German Research Foundation (DFG) in Germany; Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) in the UK; and SURFfoundation in the Netherlands. The initiative aims to make a layer of scholarly and scientific content openly available on the Internet.
According to a company representative, participation in the project is seen as a stepping stone towards Open Access. To better meet the academic community's needs for communication, Multi-Science has announced number of new titles, scheduled for launch in 2009. These include International Journal of Flow Control; Journal of Computational Multiphase Flows; International Journal of Emerging Multidisciplinary Fluid Sciences; International Journal of Spray and Combustion Dynamics; International Journal of Aerospace Innovations; International Journal of Micro Air Vehicles; and International Journal of Innovation Science.
