Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group, Israel, has announced that the National Library of Russia (NLR), in St. Petersburg, has decided to adopt the Aleph integrated library system for the management of its vast print collections. Aleph will replace numerous locally developed systems that are currently used by the National Library.
Joining 25 other national libraries throughout the world that deploy Aleph, the NLR is the latest major library in Russia to adopt the system, following the successful implementation by the Russian State Library, in Moscow.
The National Library of Russia claims to be the oldest public library in Russia. One of Russia’s legal deposit libraries, the NLR houses over 36 million items, of which 15 million are books.
