Nature Publishing Group and The University of Texas Medical Branch announce new open access journal - npj Vaccines -

Nature Publishing Group and The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston on behalf of its Sealy Center for Vaccine Development have announced a new open access journal, npj Vaccines. From preventable diseases such as measles and mumps, to Ebola and HIV, new clinical trials and vaccine debate, the new journal will be dedicated to highlighting the most important scientific advances in vaccine research and development.

The journal will publish a variety of research articles on human and veterinary vaccinations from discovery and basic science to nonclinical development of vaccines, vaccine formulation, AIDS vaccine, cancer/oncology vaccines, clinical evaluation of vaccines and vaccine safety, to mention just a few. Each original research article will include a lay summary that will summarize the key issues being addressed within the article with the goal of keeping the readership informed of advances in the field of vaccinology.

Given the public health importance of vaccines, in addition to publishing high quality original research, npj Vaccines also publishes commentaries, news, research highlights, editorials, and correspondence from readers, to provide state-of-the-art information for all of those interested in vaccines.

Dr. Alan D. Barrett, director of the Sealy Center for Vaccine Development will serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.
