Nature to launch two new journals—Nature Health and Nature Sensors—in 2026 -

Nature Portfolio will expand its journal offerings in January 2026 with the introduction of Nature Health and Nature Sensors, two titles aimed at supporting the growth of interdisciplinary research in health and applied science. The new journals are intended to provide platforms for advancing knowledge in critical global areas, including public health systems and sensor technologies.

Nature Health will focus on research related to the promotion of health, disease prevention, and the development of more resilient healthcare systems in the post-pandemic landscape. The journal is positioned to foster collaboration across disciplines, connecting researchers, healthcare practitioners, innovators, and policymakers. By publishing evidence-based research that spans a range of scientific and societal concerns, the journal aims to support improved health outcomes at a global scale.

Nature Sensors will become the first selective multidisciplinary journal within the Nature portfolio dedicated to sensors and sensing systems. With sensors increasingly embedded in everyday life and scientific practice, the journal will highlight developments across applied science and engineering. A particular focus will be placed on technologies with significant societal applications and on encouraging interaction between diverse research communities.

The launch coincides with the tenth anniversary of Nature’s journal expansion program, which began in 2015. Over the past decade, the initiative has introduced a broad array of new journals, supporting research communities and addressing pressing global issues.

Both Nature Health and Nature Sensors will be hybrid journals, offering options for open access. As with all Nature-branded titles, the editorial process will be overseen by in-house professional editors, with attention to rigorous peer review, careful commissioning, and timely publication. Submissions for both journals are now open.
