NERL partners with OA Switchboard to advance transparency in open access -

NERL has announced a three-year agreement with OA Switchboard, an intermediary that facilitates transmission of standardized open-access (OA) publication data among institutions, publishers, and funders.

By joining a collaborative network that includes more than 21 consortia, 40 publishers, and 275 individual institutions, NERL members will contribute metadata intended to support global OA infrastructure with an emphasis on authority, transparency, and timeliness. The partnership is described as providing NERL libraries with additional data for reporting, compliance, and assessment, to reduce administrative burden and improve insight into OA publishing activity.

Lanette Garza, Director for Collections Acquisitions & Licensing, Center for Research Libraries, characterized open access as essential to equitable research and noted that the partnership is intended to streamline OA metadata and reporting across the community, offering a tangible benefit to NERL members during their transition to open access.

Yvonne Campfens, Executive Director of Stichting OA Switchboard, welcomed NERL’s participation and indicated that it is expected to strengthen the shared objective of enabling efficient, transparent, and reliable exchange of OA publication data across the global research ecosystem.
