Digital content products and technologies provider ebrary, US, has announced the availability of Content Hosting Plus, a new product that combines pre-packaged, full-text e-books in academic subject areas with ebrary's hosting services. Available in multiple languages, the product transforms PDF files into highly interactive databases with the technology for information discovery including InfoTools.
With this launch, it is expected that libraries that need to host and distribute their own digitised content can realise an instant return on their investment (RoI). The content may range from special collections and theses to dissertations, reports and any materials in PDF. It has been observed that in most cases the inclusive e-books from leading publishers, which contain hundreds of titles each, are valued at more than the cost of ebrary's hosting services.
Content Hosting Plus is projected to allow libraries to easily and efficiently create digital repositories and enhance them with relevant content provided by ebrary. For instance, a library that has digitised a local history collection and would like to make documents more discoverable and usable can use the ebrary product and include a vast collection of US history titles and maps.
Additional features and benefits include pre-packaged e-books containing hundreds of titles in US history, business and other academic subject areas; no requirement for additional staff; capability to process thousands of documents a day; seamless integration with content acquired from ebrary; built-in DRM; easy PDF submission; simple meta-tagging; InfoTools software for integration with other resources; 24/7 access from any computer; comprehensive statistics to quantify user behaviour; and choice of ebrary readers.
