New editor-in-chief for Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice -

Professor Stephen Colagiuri has been named the new Editor-in-Chief of Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, effective April 1, 2008. Professor Colagiuri takes over from Professor Nigishi Hotta who has been acting as Editor-in-Chief since 2004 and now becomes an Honorary Editor-in-Chief of the journal. Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice is the official journal of the International Diabetes Federation/Western Pacific Region.

Colagiuri is Professor of Metabolic Health at the University of Sydney. His research interests focus on development and implementation of evidence-based guidelines, cardiometabolic risk assessment, diabetes screening and prevention, the glycemic index, and economic aspects of diabetes and obesity. He has over 100 publications in scientific journals and books, and is a past President of the Australian Diabetes Society. He is also a member of the Diabetes Expert Advisory Committee of the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care, chair of the International Diabetes Federation Global Guideline Working Group, and an advisor on diabetes to the World Health Organization.

Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice seeks to encourage interdisciplinary discussion of topics which are relevant to the fields of diabetology and medical science on an international scale, with a particular focus on those that are or will be clinically relevant. The journal covers original research articles and high-quality reviews in areas of growing interest in the field of epidemiology, experimental biology, nutrition and clinical practice.
