New Editor-in-Chief for the Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology appointed -

Professor Gerhard Wilde, Director of the Institute of Materials Physics at the University of Münster, will succeed Professor Thomas Schimmel from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as the Editor-in-Chief of the Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology.

Professor Thomas Schimmel served as Editor-in-Chief of the Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology since it was established in November 2010. His participation and commitment were essential for the journal's development. As Founding Editor-in-Chief, he will continue to advise the Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology and support the Editorial Board.

Professor Gerhard Wilde will assume his new role on November 20, 2022. Professor Wilde studied physics at the University of Cologne and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne. He then earned his doctorate in materials science under Professor Fecht at the Technical University of Berlin. As a Feodor Lynen Research Fellow, he then moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to join Professor Perepezko's group. After returning to Germany, he was initially employed as a senior researcher in Professor Gleiter's group at the Research Center Karlsruhe. He participated in the DFG Emmy-Noether program and became a group leader at the Research Center Karlsruhe and a professor at Saarland University. Since 2006, he has been a professor and director of the Institute of Materials Physics at the University of Münster.
