A new report reveals how Jisc’s Digital Transformation Toolkit is enabling UK higher education institutions to adopt a people-centred approach to digital change. Drawing on 12 in-depth case studies, the report demonstrates how the toolkit supports a wide range of initiatives, from developing digital strategies to enhancing teaching programs and benchmarking organizational digital maturity.
The toolkit, which includes a web guide, framework, and maturity model, was developed with input from over 450 senior leaders and UK professional bodies. It aims to help institutions embed digital practices across all areas of their organization, ensuring alignment with key UK higher education models.
The findings were validated through a 2024 research pilot, underscoring the success factors for effective digital transformation. Institutions like Bath Spa University, University of Manchester, and Queen’s University Belfast used the toolkit to co-create AI strategies and implement digital changes at scale.
The report and case studies were launched at the "Embedding AI in Higher Education: Innovation, Integration, and Impact" event at Queen’s University, Belfast. This event, part of Jisc’s Digital Transformation series, featured the premiere of a video case study on Queen’s AI strategy. The remaining events will continue across the UK, helping more institutions harness digital transformation in line with sector priorities.
