Nichols School library opts for EBSCO Discovery Service -

Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing, US, has announced that Nichols School, a Buffalo, New York school for grades 5-12, has chosen EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) for ease of searching and breadth of information.

EDS seeks to provide users with access to a school's entire collection via a single, customisable entry point. The school integrated EDS into its existing library collection by taking advantage of some of the EDS customisation features and transformed the search page to match the school colours and the heading of its web pages. School representatives have expressed the hope that EDS will minimise their students' use of Google. Since the EDS implementation, the school has reportedly seen fewer general web searches than in the past.

EBSCO Discovery Service seeks to create a unified, customised index of an institution's information resources, and an easy, yet powerful means of accessing all of that content from a single search box-searching made even more powerful because of the quality of metadata and depth and breadth of coverage.
