Wolters Kluwer Health has announced that Norway’s health system has extended its use of the UpToDate Enterprise Edition across more than 50 public hospitals, covering 11,000 beds in over 20 trusts. This renewal continues a 15‑year collaboration with Helsebiblioteket, now part of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH).
The selection of UpToDate followed a competitive evaluation by Norwegian regional health trusts and the NIPH, with the solution receiving the highest scores across all quality criteria.
Clinicians in Norway will continue to access evidence‑based guidance through UpToDate, with new enterprise features including support for mental health medication transitions, renal dosing, and Clinical Pathways—interactive tools designed to guide decisions on specific clinical questions.
Norwegian clinicians will also participate in a pilot of UpToDate Expert AI, which will be used for general information and educational purposes during its testing phase.
Christian Cella, Vice President and General Manager of Wolters Kluwer Health’s International segment, stated that as healthcare grows more complex, integrated clinical intelligence is needed across workflows and patient care. He expressed that the continued collaboration supports Norway’s efforts to deliver healthcare nationwide.
Independent studies have linked UpToDate use to measurable improvements in hospital performance, including reduced lengths of stay, fewer medical errors, and decreased unnecessary diagnostic testing.
