In a significant development for academic libraries in Lebanon, Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) Libraries has chosen FOLIO as its Library Services Platform (LSP) in collaboration with EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). NDU will become the first library in Lebanon to adopt FOLIO, with the implementation process set to begin using EBSCO's FOLIO hosting and implementation services. The university plans to transition fully to FOLIO by January 2024, following a phased implementation approach.
Notre Dame University-Louaize is a prestigious private Catholic institution of higher education that encompasses three libraries: the Mariam and Youssef Library at the Zouk Mosbeh Campus, the NLC Library at the Barsa Campus, and the Shouf Library at the Deir El-Kamar Campus. All three libraries will embrace the FOLIO LSP, enabling them to leverage new technical advancements, communicate seamlessly with various tools and services, and streamline their workflows.
By integrating seamlessly with existing EBSCO resources, FOLIO will enhance library workflows and patron services at NDU. The university will continue to leverage GOBI® Library Solutions from EBSCO for book selection and acquisitions, as well as EBSCONET® for subscription management. The comprehensive integration of these tools will provide NDU Libraries with a unified and efficient platform to support their academic community's information needs.
The adoption of FOLIO by Notre Dame University-Louaize signifies a significant step forward for the library community in Lebanon, reflecting the university's commitment to embracing innovative technologies that enhance scholarly resources and streamline operations.
