OA Switchboard launches new OJS plug-in to boost visibility for diamond open access journals -

Publishers utilizing the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform from the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) can now benefit from a seamless integration with the OA Switchboard, thanks to a newly released plug-in. This plug-in, designed to support diamond open access journals, aims to improve the visibility of scholarly output among research funders, libraries, and consortia.

With the OA Switchboard OJS plug-in installed, articles published on OJS will be automatically reported to relevant institutions and research funders upon publication. The plug-in extracts metadata at the article level and pushes it to stakeholders using the standardized OA Switchboard message structure, ensuring comprehensive and timely reporting of open access content.

This integration not only simplifies reporting but also enhances the discoverability of publications, improves workflow efficiencies, and supports better integration with downstream systems. Publishers gain valuable management insights, enabling improved portfolio management and a deeper understanding of their stakeholders and authors.

Developed as an open-source solution by Lepidus Tecnologia, with Openjournals.nl serving as a testing partner, the plug-in is set to become available in the PKP Plugin Gallery. The project was made possible through funding from the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL), furthering support for open access publishing infrastructure.
