OCLC has launched the Colombia Discovery Catalog, a national group catalog designed to improve discoverability and sharing of library resources across Colombia. The catalog provides a unified view of collections held by participating libraries and supports access through a single-search interface.
More than 40 public, academic, and corporate libraries in Colombia have contributed millions of bibliographic records to WorldCat as part of the initiative. The catalog is built on the WorldCat Discovery platform, which enables users to identify and access resources available in libraries worldwide.
The Colombia Discovery Catalog follows similar implementations in other regions, including WorldCat España, the Arabic Discovery Catalog, Voilà in Canada, and the Art Discovery Group Catalog. These initiatives are designed to aggregate bibliographic records by geography or subject area to improve online visibility and resource sharing.
OCLC partnered with distributor Referencistas to support the participation of Colombian libraries in the catalog. Referencistas serves as the exclusive OCLC distributor in Colombia and Brazil and works with libraries across Latin America.
