OCLC names Jeff Jacobs as Chief Information Officer -

OCLC, the non-profit computer library service and research organisation, has announced the appointment of Jeff J. Jacobs, an experienced technology executive, as Chief Information Officer.

Jacobs comes to OCLC from JPMorgan Chase, where he served as Chief Technology Officer for the digital consumer businesses. He also held the titles of Managing Director and Senior Vice President. He will join OCLC on May 19, and will be based in the Dublin, Ohio, headquarters.

In his most recent role at JPMorgan Chase, Jacobs oversaw a large technology team of more than 600 responsible for infrastructure, development, quality and operations supporting multiple businesses that serve Chase's more than 35 million online customers. Additionally, his innovation team delivered the company's first responsive and adaptive site, further enhancing the customer experience.

Prior to his work at JPMorgan Chase, Jacobs held various technology leadership positions with WellPoint, Intellitech, Exact Software, Cardinal Health and the Kroger Company.

OCLC provides innovative services to help libraries worldwide make the most of today's technologies to share resources, increase efficiencies and reduce costs. More than 74,000 libraries in 170 countries have used OCLC services. OCLC and its member libraries cooperatively produce and maintain WorldCat, the world's largest online database for discovery of library resources.
