OCLC strengthens global open access research infrastructure with CORE sponsorship -

OCLC has expanded its commitment to supporting open access research infrastructure through a new sponsorship agreement with CORE (COnnecting REpositories). The collaboration builds on recent OCLC partnerships with organizations such as the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), and the European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations (EBLIDA).

CORE is a nonprofit service providing access to millions of open access research papers in their comprehensive database, helping researchers, institutions, and libraries in discovering and accessing scholarly content. The new agreement will contribute to sustaining CORE’s infrastructure, which plays a vital role in ensuring access to global OA research.

By supporting CORE, OCLC reinforces its strategy of strengthening systems that underpin scholarly communication. The partnership reflects a growing emphasis on collaboration between library networks and infrastructure providers to advance accessibility and interoperability in research.
