Old Dominion University selects Ex Libris Alma and Primo -

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest® company, has announced that Old Dominion University (ODU) in Virginia has decided to adopt the Ex Libris Alma® resource management solution and the Primo® discovery solution, which will replace the university's Innovative Interfaces Sierra Library Services Platform and EBSCO Discovery Service™.

With the improvement in technologies and the emergence of innovative approaches in higher education, ODU found that its libraries could not handle new kinds of tasks and were thus failing to meet the needs of the university community. Designed around the management of print materials, the libraries' software was not suited to the management of electronic resources, which constitute an increasing percentage of the resources purchased by the university.

At the same time, ODU sought a discovery system that would enable students and faculty to search all of the university's collections from a single interface. The sophisticated Primo search and ranking technology, intuitive browsing options, and support for serendipitous discovery will enable users to easily find and seamlessly access the resources they need.
