F1000 is making browsing and searching its content freely available from June 2008. Visitors will now be able to access the tens of thousands of selections archived, as well as the daily updates. Users will be invited to subscribe to the service to enjoy the insights and summaries featured, and to tailor the websites to their own specific preferences. Free trials are offered to introduce the full service to new users.
Designed to make sense of the vast and growing body of scholarly literature in the fields of biology and medicine, the F1000 service comprises over 4,500 of the world's most distinguished and respected researchers and clinicians who select key recent articles and evaluate them. This 'faculty of experts' highlight articles that make a difference to biomedical scientists in their research and to clinicians in their every-day practice. The articles are identified from over 1000 reputed biomedical journals from a wide range of publishers, and they are then graded from an expert perspective.
