Optica Publishing Group announces inaugural issue of Gold Open Access journal - Optica Quantum -

Optica Publishing Group announced the launch of its latest addition, Optica Quantum, a peer-reviewed Gold Open Access journal that stands as a platform for high-impact research in quantum information science and technology (QIST), catalyzed by the influence of optics and photonics. The inaugural issue of this pioneering journal is now accessible to readers, presenting an assembly of five research articles and a thought-provoking perspective paper.

Optica Quantum, an integral component of Optica Publishing Group's diverse portfolio comprising 19 peer-reviewed journals, is dedicated to facilitating the exchange of groundbreaking research within the domain of quantum science and technology. Spearheaded by Editor-in-Chief Michael G. Raymer from the University of Oregon, USA, the journal's editorial board comprises exceptional researchers from various corners of the globe, actively engaged in quantum science and technology.

Optica Quantum covers a wide spectrum, including original research articles, invited reviews, perspectives, tutorials, comments, and replies. The journal's scope encompasses both theoretical and experimental papers advancing fundamental quantum science, along with those that propel enabling technologies and their applications in quantum information.

With the burgeoning interest in open science initiatives across the globe, Optica Publishing Group has expanded its transparent peer review program to incorporate Optica Quantum. Drawing from the success of its adoption in Optics Continuum (formerly OSA Continuum) since its launch in 2018, the transparent peer review feature aims to foster a more transparent and inclusive review process. Authors and reviewers opting for this feature are required to consent to the publication of their peer review correspondence along with the final article. The peer review correspondence includes editorial decision letters, reviewer comments, and author responses, maintaining reviewer anonymity.

The inaugural issue of Optica Quantum not only introduces a rich collection of research articles and a perspective paper but also includes a paper with peer review correspondence, offering readers a glimpse into the comprehensive peer review process.

The introduction of Optica Quantum marks a pivotal moment in the sphere of quantum information science and technology, opening new avenues for collaborative research and the dissemination of knowledge within this rapidly advancing field.
