OSEO’s new Restoration module to contain works by authors principally active between 1660 and 1700 -

Oxford Scholarly Editions Online (OSEO), a publishing initiative from Oxford University Press, has launched a Restoration module that will contain works by authors principally active between 1660 and 1700, and will add to OSEO's growing database of cutting edge scholarly editions.

The Restoration module includes many of the period's seminal works. From Dryden to Bunyan, and from Milton to Locke, this update provides users with authoritative and reliable critical editions of original works by some of the most important writers in the humanities.

The clear and easy navigation of OSEO has been specifically tailored with the researcher in mind and is based on real research journeys. Readers can use the browse option to look at content selected by author, work, or a particular print edition; or can use the advanced search, which uses XML to tailor focused searches within very precise sections of content, such as stage directions. The texts are divided into chronological modules allowing interdisciplinary searches within a time period. This is projected as an invaluable resource for readers who wish to delve into the progressions and deviations of a text's journey throughout history.

The electronic environment of OSEO provides a new research method and tool for the reader, who can quickly examine the history of the scholarly editing of a work or see instantly how a particular word used in a text has changed over time. OSEO makes it possible for students and scholars to interrogate texts in ways that could never have been done before.
