Oxford University Press (OUP) and the Czech National Library of Technology (CzechELib) have agreed to a nationwide read and publish agreement that will allow researchers at CzechELib's member institutions to access OUP's full journal collection and publish their work open access. The agreement, which will run for three years, marks OUP's first such agreement in the Czech Republic and its 36th globally.
Alastair Lewis, OUP Sales Director - Academic, said that the read and publish agreements play a significant role in ensuring world-class academic content is shared as widely as possible. The new contract with CzechELib is reflective of OUP's commitment to increase open access publishing. Martin Svoboda, Director of the National Library of Technology, noted that while the OUP read and publish consortium may not be among the largest, the opportunity for authors from CzechELib's member institutions to publish in open access mode across OUP's prestigious portfolio without restrictions was particularly appreciated.
OUP's mission is to promote excellence in research, scholarship, and education worldwide by publishing outstanding academic and educational resources. The organization believes that open access plays a significant role in increasing access to important research, and it has been striving to increase its open access publishing efforts globally. This agreement with CzechELib is the latest step in that effort.
