Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP), UK, has announced the launch of International Data Privacy Law (IDPL), a new journal focusing on privacy and data protection. According to OUP, IDPL is the only international journal to offer specialist coverage of the law relating to data protection and privacy.
IDPL seeks to span the gulf between scholarship and practice, and to help solidify the position of data protection and privacy law as a central area of importance for the individual, the economy, and the development of new technologies. It focuses on all aspects of privacy and data protection, including data processing at a company level, international data transfers, civil liberties issues (e.g., government surveillance), technology issues relating to privacy, international security breaches, and conflicts between US privacy rules and European data protection law.
The journal reviews data protection legislation and their associated regulatory regimes in countries around the world. It takes a global approach to the subject and considers developments and case law from the UK, Europe, the US, and around the world.
