Over 100 libraries embrace EBSCO FOLIO, advancing globalization of open source community -

The FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP) has achieved a significant milestone as more than 100 libraries worldwide successfully transitioned to the platform with the support of EBSCO FOLIO Services from EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). This remarkable achievement underscores EBSCO FOLIO's commitment to promoting diversity within the open source community and its dedication to providing representation in open source initiatives.

Since its inception in 2016, FOLIO has undergone substantial advancements, attracting a growing community of contributors. EBSCO, as one of the founding organizations of the FOLIO project, has played a pivotal role in accelerating the development and adoption of FOLIO. By leveraging its resources and expertise, EBSCO has enriched the functionality of FOLIO and placed significant emphasis on globalization efforts to embrace new perspectives.

The current roster of EBSCO FOLIO sites includes over 100 libraries, encompassing academic research libraries, consortia, shared systems, universities of all sizes, and community colleges from around the world. To ensure global accessibility, EBSCO FOLIO Services consultants are situated across different regions, providing services in multiple languages. Additionally, several prominent institutions, including GALILEO, the Library of Congress, the MOBIUS consortium, and the National Library of Australia, are among the libraries scheduled to transition to FOLIO in the coming year.

EBSCO FOLIO's flexible architecture allows for easy development, and its integration options enable customization to meet the unique requirements of each library. The platform's open nature empowers libraries to connect with various external systems and services through APIs and utilities, facilitating comprehensive management of their library systems, including electronic resource management (ERM), authentication, discovery, analytics, and more.

The globalization of EBSCO FOLIO marks a significant step forward in the advancement of open source solutions within the library community. As libraries worldwide continue to embrace the platform, the spirit of collaboration and inclusivity will fuel innovation and shape the future of library services in the digital era.
