Oxford Journals launches pilot for online open access charges -

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP), a department of the University of Oxford, has launched a pilot to administer open access charges online through a new ordering system built on top of the existing Oxford Journals Author Services infrastructure.

The new system is a continuation of OUP's drive to streamline the publication process for all authors. Over 15,000 licences have already been signed, quickly and easily online, through Oxford Journals Author Services since its successful launch in 2010. Authors will now be able to accept their licence and pay their open access charges through one convenient online portal.

The system will roll out to Oxford Journals' full collection of open access titles in summer 2011. A project is underway to incorporate all other author charges into the system. The new online ordering system is now live for the pilot journals, which include Bioinformatics; Database; Human Molecular Genetics; Japanese Journal of Clinical Oncology; Journal of Competition Law & Economics; Social History of Medicine; and Nucleic Acids Research.
