Oxford University Press announces senior appointments to boost digital development -

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP) has announced a series of senior appointments designed to boost the organisation's digital development.

CEO Nigel Portwood confirmed Pam Sutherland as Group Chief Information Officer (CIO) - a newly-created role with responsibility for the Press's group-wide digital and IT infrastructure. Her appointment adds to newly-created director level digital publishing positions in OUP's English Language Teaching and Global Academic Divisions, all designed to ensure a coherent digital strategy.

Pam Sutherland has extensive experience in IT and digital publishing, most recently as IT Director then Operations Director at Oxford Journals. In her new CIO role she reports directly to Portwood, and is responsible for developing and implementing an IT strategy, co-ordinating cross-divisional digital initiatives, and developing technological skills across the organisation.

Other senior digital appointments in OUP's publishing divisions include Ernst Kallus and Casper Grathwohl. Grathwohl recently became Online and Reference Publisher in the Global Academic Business, while Kallus, who has eight years of digital publishing experience behind him, was appointed as Digital Media Director for English Language Teaching.

OUP currently has a range of digital products ranging from online reference works to online learning tools, software for schools, eBooks, and mobile applications.
