Academic and reference books publisher Oxford University Press (OUP), UK, has announced that an online service comprising 13 Oxford Medical Handbooks will be available to librarians from May 2009 onwards.
Aimed primarily at medical students and trainee doctors, the Oxford Medical Handbooks series is popular for its ease of use and practicality, with each book delivering reliable, up-to-date clinical information. The online service contains the central title in the series, the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine as well as 12 other key subject areas.
Oxford Medical Handbooks Online will be hosted alongside Oxford Journals on the HighWire platform. Users will be able to quickly and easily cross-search all the titles in the service, and link through to relevant content in the Journals collection or elsewhere on the HighWire platform. The text is fully searchable, with graphics and tables to enhance users' understanding. Images can also be downloaded to PowerPoint for use in presentations.
The Press will launch three further medical online services later this year. These are: The AMA Manual of Style Online; The ESC Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine second edition; and The Oxford Textbook of Medicine fifth edition.
