The Oxford University Press (OUP) is set to publish Japan’s pre-eminent title in radiation science, the Journal of Radiation Research (JRR). The journal is the official journal of the Japan Radiation Research Society (JRRS) and the Japanese Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (JASTRO).
Since its launch in 1960 as the official journal of the JRRS, the journal has published scientific articles on radiation science in biology, chemistry, physics, epidemiology, and environmental sciences. JRR broadened its scope to include oncology in 2009, when JASTRO partnered with the JRRS to publish the journal.
JRR has been self-published as a free-access journal since its inception. The title’s move to Oxford University Press will see it adopt OUP’s fully open access publishing model, with discounted author charges sponsored by JRRS and JASTRO. There will also be an option for subscribers to purchase print copies.
The first issue of the Journal of Radiation Research will be published by OUP in July 2012.
