Path to Open unveils 2024 titles, 300 new books to enrich scholarly landscape -

Path to Open, a pioneering initiative dedicated to supporting the open access publication of groundbreaking scholarly books, has announced the addition of 300 new titles from 44 university presses in 2024. This expansion includes contributions from nine publishers newly joining the program, further diversifying its global reach.

The essence of university press books lies in their depth, quality, and diverse perspectives. The 2024 line-up reflects this ethos, featuring a curated selection of insightful titles aligned with high-demand disciplines on JSTOR. Notable works include "Resisting Olympic Evictions" by Adam Talbot from Manchester University Press, "School, Ideas, and Values in the Age of tl:dr" by Zdeněk Ježek from Masaryk University Press, and "Climate Justice and Public Health: Realities, Responses, and Reimaginings for a Better Future" by Rajini Srikanth and Linda Thompson from University of Massachusetts Press. Spanning arts, humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary fields like public health and sustainability, these titles promise to enrich scholarly discourse worldwide.

Faculty and students at participating libraries will have immediate access to the 2024 books on JSTOR upon publication, augmenting the existing collection of 100 titles made available in 2023. Furthermore, all Path to Open books will transition to open access three years post-publication, ensuring broad dissemination and accessibility.

Now in its second year, Path to Open continues to advance toward its mission of establishing a scalable, sustainable model for open access book publishing.
