Paul S. Weiss joins editorial advisory board of RSC Applied Interfaces -

UCLA Professor Paul S. Weiss has been appointed to the inaugural editorial advisory board of RSC Applied Interfaces, a new journal launched by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). The journal, together with RSC Applied Polymers, was introduced in June 2025 as part of the RSC’s first publications dedicated exclusively to applied science and materials innovation.

RSC Applied Interfaces focuses on interdisciplinary research at material and biological interfaces and is led by Editor-in-Chief Professor Federico Rosei of Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique in Canada. Rosei previously collaborated with Weiss during his sabbatical visit to UCLA as a Canada Fulbright Chair.

Weiss holds a UC Presidential Chair at UCLA and is a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Bioengineering, and Materials Science and Engineering. Before joining UCLA, he was a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Physics at Pennsylvania State University and served as Director of the California NanoSystems Institute and as the Fred Kavli Chair in NanoSystems Sciences.

He was the founding Editor-in-Chief of ACS Nano (2007–2021) and is involved in startups across biotechnology, energy, and healthcare applications. Among his recent honors are the IEEE Nanotechnology Pioneer Award, the Sigma Xi William Procter Prize for Scientific Achievement, and his election as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Chemical Society, American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, Canadian Academy of Engineering, Materials Research Society, the IEEE, and the National Academy of Inventors.
