The Peer Review Week is scheduled to run from September 19-26, 2016. Building on the success of Peer Review Week 2015, ORCID is working with a committee representing over 20 organisations, to organise a global event celebrating the essential role that peer review plays in maintaining scientific and scholarly quality. Peer Review Week 2016 will bring together individuals, institutions, and organisations committed to sharing the central message that good peer review - whatever shape or form it might take - is critical to scholarly communications.
This year's theme is Recognition for Review, exploring all aspects of how to acknowledge those participating in review activity - in publishing, grant review, conference submissions, promotion and tenure, and more.
Planned activities include virtual and in-person events including webinars, videos, interviews and social media activities designed to improve understanding of the principle of peer review and how it is practiced within the scholarly community. A comprehensive list of online resources is also being collated to advance the understanding of peer review and its role in 21st century scholarship.
