Pensoft and Bibsam Consortium sign open access agreement in Sweden -

Pensoft and the Bibsam Consortium, which is operated by the National Library of Sweden, have signed a comprehensive Open Access (OA) agreement related to scholarly publishing in Sweden.

The agreement applies to almost 100 institutions, including Karolinska Institutet, Lund University, Uppsala University, and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Researchers at participating institutions will be able to publish in 65 journals published by Pensoft or using its publishing platform ARPHA, including ZooKeys, PhytoKeys, Biodiversity Data Journal, NeoBiota, and IMA Fungus, without paying individual article processing charges (APCs).

The agreement covers 97 research organizations, including Karolinska Institutet, Lund University, Uppsala University, and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Authors affiliated with participating institutions are eligible under the agreement, with publishing costs fully covered by an institutional deposit secured by the National Library of Sweden.

An Open Access framework makes scientific research immediately and freely available, and the agreement is described as aligning with the FAIR principles of Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

OA agreements such as this are described as reducing financial barriers for researchers and supporting wider sharing of scientific work.
