The Public Knowledge Project (PKP) has opened registration for its 2025 Annual General Meeting, which will take place virtually on Tuesday, June 17, at 8 AM PDT. The event brings together contributors, partners, and supporters of open scholarly communication to review organizational progress, share global perspectives, and discuss future directions in open access publishing.
The AGM will provide updates on activities from the 2024 fiscal year and outline PKP’s strategic priorities for the years ahead. As in past years, the meeting will highlight developments across PKP’s open-source platforms—Open Journal Systems (OJS), Open Monograph Press (OMP), and Open Preprint Systems (OPS)—which remain central to the organization's mission to support equitable and sustainable access to scholarly knowledge.
The AGM is open to a broad community of stakeholders, including editors, reviewers, librarians, journal managers, software partners, scholarly societies, and in-kind contributors. Participation is also encouraged from those new to the PKP ecosystem, particularly individuals and institutions exploring community-led publishing models, such as diamond open access.
No technical background is required to attend. The event is designed for a wide audience—from university librarians evaluating open access strategies to researchers seeking to support independent publishing initiatives. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with ongoing developments in PKP’s infrastructure, learn from international case studies, and contribute to open discussions shaping the organization’s future.
The meeting agenda includes a strategic update, financial highlights, and reports from advisory committees. Sessions will explore PKP’s role as a research-driven initiative, spotlight developments in Open Monograph Press, and examine the evolving landscape of scholarly publishing, with a focus on Indonesia and broader global contexts. Additional sessions will address enhancements in OJS version 3.6 and feature an open community Q&A.
The event will be recorded and made publicly available. All participants will join with microphones and cameras disabled, with opportunities provided for questions and comments throughout the meeting.
