PLA to hold webinar on e-reader loaning programmes -

The Public Library Association (PLA), US, has announced plans to host a live, hour-long webinar titled "Check out E-Readers! Sacramento Public Library Did It and You Can Too!". This is part of PLA's "Public Libraries at Work" monthly webinar series.

The Sacramento Public Library (SPL) recently received a grant from the California State Library to form a partnership with Barnes & Noble and develop a plan to successfully check out e-readers to the public. Five panelists from SPL will share how they built the e-reader loan programme from the ground up.

Webinar participants will gain insight on the challenges of collection, copyright and CIPA, staff training, marketing and assessment, as well as receive tips to successfully implement a similar program at their libraries.

The cost to attend the webinar is $28 for PLA members, $31.50 for ALA members and $35 for non-members. Groups of any size can register for $129. The deadline to register is 4:30 p.m. CDT on September 19.
