The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), in partnership with Cell Press, has announced the launch of Nexus, an innovative gold open access journal aimed at uniting scientists and engineers to tackle global challenges. The journal will be published by PolyU Press, with Professor Jerry YAN, Chair Professor of Energy and Buildings at PolyU, serving as the inaugural editor-in-chief.
Nexus, now open for submissions, will cover a wide range of subjects in applied sciences, engineering, technology, and interdisciplinary fields. The journal's mission is to publish original research, reports, reviews, and commentaries on innovative solutions that enhance quality of life, protect the environment, and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Cell Press sees Nexus as a significant addition to its portfolio. Nexus is the first partner journal in the physical sciences for Cell Press and marks its first collaboration with a university. This partnership underscores Cell Press's commitment to expanding its open access publications in the physical sciences, which already include titles such as Cell Reports Physical Science and Cell Reports Sustainability.
Editor-in-Chief Professor Jerry Yan chose the name Nexus to highlight the journal's role in connecting different fields and people. Nexus will not be a traditional journal; in addition to publishing research and reviews, it will feature original content that encourages scientists and engineers to collaborate on larger research projects and secure funding for interdisciplinary initiatives.
As an esteemed researcher with over 400 published papers, Prof. Yan serves as the advisory editor-in-chief of Applied Energy and the founding editor of Advances in Applied Energy, both published by Elsevier. He selected Cell Press as Nexus's publishing partner due to the organization's reputation for facilitating rapid and efficient innovation.
The collaboration between PolyU and Cell Press represents a significant step forward in fostering interdisciplinary research and sustainable solutions. Nexus will serve as a vital platform for scientists and engineers to connect, share knowledge, and drive progress towards a more sustainable future.
Researchers and experts are invited to submit their work to Nexus, embracing the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and shape a more sustainable world.
