Non-profit electronic archiving service provider Portico, US, has announced an agreement with the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). Under the deal, Portico will preserve the latter's online collection of 12 journals. With this inclusion, more than 8,400 e-journals and more than 5,600 e-books have now been entrusted to the Portico archive.
Through this agreement, INFORMS seeks to further its preservation strategy. Since 2000, INFORMS has worked with JSTOR to provide a trusted archive of the back issues of seven of its publications. Through Portico, it will provide for the ongoing preservation of its electronic current issues. As part of this agreement, INFORMS will make an annual financial contribution to Portico.
INFORMS is a society for professionals in the field of operations research. It was established in 1995 with the merger of the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA) and The Institute of Management Sciences (TIMS).
