Non-profit electronic archiving service provider Portico, US, has announced an agreement with the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) to preserve its online publication, Information Standards Quarterly. With this inclusion, over 7,900 e-journals and 4,400 e-books have now been entrusted to the Portico archive.
Through this agreement with Portico, NISO seeks to ensure that the online version of its publication will be preserved and available for future scholars, researchers and students. NISO has named Portico as a mechanism to fill post-cancellation access claims and has also agreed to make an annual financial contribution to Portico.
NISO, a non-profit association accredited by the American National Standards Institute, identifies, develops, maintains, and publishes technical standards to manage information in a digital environment. NISO standards apply both traditional and new technologies to the full range of information-related needs, including retrieval, re-purposing, storage, metadata, and preservation.
