Digital preservation service Portico recently completed a two-year project to rebuild its preservation infrastructure from the ground up with the support of its publisher and library participants. This initiative helped create a stable, scalable, elastic architecture that will enable Portico to keep pace with the ever-increasing amount of content. It will also allow them to provide preservation for new and complex forms of scholarly publishing.
In the decade since its launch, both the scale and type of its preservation work has evolved. The volume of scholarly content ingested each year has grown from 160,000 archival objects in 2006 to over 98.5 million in 2018. Portico is committed to investing in and improving their systems and capabilities in order to keep up with the constantly changing environment.
