A new publication, A Practical Guide to Implementing Responsible Research Assessment at Research Funding Organizations, provides a structured framework for funders seeking to adopt or strengthen responsible research assessment (RRA) practices. The Guide offers practical steps, resources, and illustrative examples to support organizations in developing strategies, reforming current processes, or moving toward more inclusive and holistic approaches.
The Guide is discipline‑agnostic and designed to be flexible, allowing adaptation across diverse organizational and disciplinary contexts. It aims to inspire varied approaches to implementing responsible assessment practices rather than prescribing a single model.
The resource was co‑developed by DORA, the Global Research Council Responsible Research Assessment Working Group, and Science Europe. Its development included extensive stakeholder discussions and an in‑person workshop in Copenhagen in December 2025, held alongside the CeRRA Conference.
This publication serves as a companion to DORA’s earlier guide for research performing organizations released in 2025, extending the framework to funding bodies.
