Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing, a division of EBSCO Industries, Inc., US, has announced that the content in the Pre-CINAHL database has been merged with all CINAHL products to streamline users' search experiences. CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) is owned and operated by EBSCO Publishing.
Pre-CINAHL was intended to provide current awareness of new journal articles. It included a rotating file of limited bibliographic information (no subject searching), which was available to searchers only for the time when these articles were being assigned additional indexing. This enabled users to gain access to article citations that otherwise would not have been available.
These early article citations are now part of all CINAHL products, so all of the records users wish to access in Pre-CINAHL can now be searched in subscribed CINAHL products. If users wish to exclude these records in their CINAHL product search, they can use the "Exclude Pre-CINAHL" search limiter.
From March 31, 2009 the Pre-CINAHL database will no longer be available as a stand-alone product. Customers should delete or change any links they may have created to the product.
