The Royal Society of Biology and the Biochemical Society have announced the appointment of Colin Kleanthous, professor of microbial biochemistry at The University of Oxford, as editor-in-chief of the brand new journal Emerging Topics in Life Sciences, coming in 2017.
Jointly owned by the Royal Society of Biology and the Biochemical Society, this journal will feature reviews highlighting emerging areas across the life sciences. Each issue will focus on a new or growing field of life science research written for an interdisciplinary audience ranging from students and early-career researchers to established scientists and will be guest edited by an expert in the field.
In his own research, Prof. Kleanthous studies protein-protein interactions in bacterial cell signalling and protein import. He takes a multidisciplinary approach to his research in a wide variety of biological settings.
Professor Kleanthous was chair of the Biochemical Society between 2011 and 2013, as well as chair of the Wellcome Trust Basic Science Interview Committee in 2011 and 2012, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, indicative of his broad scientific interests.
