Prof. Kyoung Mu Lee appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of the top AI Journal, IEEE TPAMI -

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Kookheon Char) has announced that Professor Kyoung Mu Lee of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the director of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in AI (Artificial Intelligence) has been appointed as the EIC (Editor-in-Chief) of the IEEE transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI) which is the most prestigious and impactful journal in AI.

IEEE TPAMI is the top journal in the field of AI as well as in the whole field of computer science, with its impact factor (IF) of 16.389. About 1,800 papers are submitted every year, and only about 20% of them are published, making it even difficult to get papers to be accepted.

Professor Lee has served as an AEIC (Associate Editor-in-Chief) for the past five years and will start his EIC role from January 2022. He will lead an editorial board made up of the best scholars in the field of AI, including six AEICs and 120 AEs (Associate Editors).

As a leading AI scholar, Professor Kyoung Mu Lee has published more than 250 papers so far, and the total number of citations exceeds 21,000. In 2019, he served as the co-General Chair of the ICCV2019, the world's top computer vision and artificial intelligence conference, attended by 7,500 people, and successfully held the event in Seoul, contributing significantly to the development of AI in Korea. In recognition of these achievements, he became an IEEE Fellow, a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) and the National Academy of Engineering of Korea. (NAEK).

Currently, Professor Lee is in charge of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in AI at SNU and serves as the president of the Korean Computer Vision Society (KCVS).
