Russ College professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Tingyue Gu, has been named the new editor-in-chief of Bioresources and Bioprocessing, a peer-reviewed journal published by Springer with an impact factor of 4.983. Gu's appointment is aimed at promoting research to support bioresource development, processing and utilization in a sustainable manner.
Internationally renowned for his work on chromatography modeling and scale-up, Gu authored the chromatography simulation package Chromulator, which is used by dozens of university researchers in more than thirty countries, as well as by several major pharmaceutical and biotech companies. He has also conducted research in protein purification, as well as in fungal and bacterial fermentation. His latest research focus is on corrosion caused by environmental microbes.
The Russ College of Engineering and Technology's Interim Dean, Maj Mirmirani, expressed her pleasure at Gu's appointment, saying that his commitment to bioengineering has not only had a tremendous impact on the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Ohio University, but also the field of bioengineering.
Gu's appointment as editor-in-chief of Bioresources and Bioprocessing is expected to further advance sustainable bioresource development, processing, and utilization research.
