Professional Engineering Publishing (PE Publishing), the publishing arm of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK, has announced that it will transition to web-based production tracking using Preprint Manager from Aries Systems Corporation.
Preprint Manager is a web-based content management system for scholarly journals, books and reference works. The system enables scheduling and management of tasks such as copy editing, author proofing, composition and issue management. Users of Preprint Manager benefit from rationalisation of content production workflow; reduced time to publication; increased control over cost and content-related production tasks; and the ability to rapidly 'retool' production processes to create innovative publications and respond to competitive threats.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of IMechE, PE Publishing publishes 18 journals across a variety of subjects of interest to the international engineering community. Sixteen journals are grouped within the Proceedings of the IMechE, each with its own identity and international editorial board.
