Professor Duncan Graham appointed Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Society Reviews -

Professor Duncan Graham, Associate Principal & Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Strathclyde, has been named the Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Society Reviews, a journal published by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). In this role, he will oversee the journal’s editorial direction, ensuring it continues to provide comprehensive, high-impact reviews of key developments in chemistry.

Reflecting on the scope of the journal, Professor Graham noted that chemistry spans a vast range of subdisciplines, intersecting with areas such as materials science, biology, and physics. While many RSC journals focus on specific subfields, Chemical Society Reviews serves as a central forum for critical assessments of emerging trends and interdisciplinary research. The journal publishes both critical and tutorial reviews, with the former offering in-depth analyses of specialized areas and the latter providing entry-level overviews for researchers new to a topic.

Professor Graham has had a long-standing association with the Royal Society of Chemistry, previously contributing as an author, guest editor, and advisory board member. He described his appointment as a natural continuation of his engagement with the journal, emphasizing that he values its role in guiding research directions and introducing new scientific perspectives.

Looking ahead, he highlighted the importance of Chemical Society Reviews in articulating future trends in chemistry, ensuring that the journal remains an influential resource for the global scientific community. He expressed a commitment to maintaining its high-impact reputation, fostering critical discussions on emerging areas of importance, and addressing pressing societal challenges such as sustainability, climate change, and energy research.
