Professor Sohini Kar-Narayan appointed Editor-in-Chief of APL Electronic Devices -

AIP Publishing has announced the appointment of Professor Sohini Kar-Narayan as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of its new open access journal, APL Electronic Devices. This cutting-edge publication is set to become a leading platform for research in electronics and devices, with submissions opening later this year and the first issue scheduled for release in early 2025.

Professor Kar-Narayan, a distinguished academic in the field of device materials, is currently a Professor at the University of Cambridge. She also serves as the Director and Co-Founder of ArtioSense Limited, a venture focused on commercializing microfluidic force-sensing technology for orthopedic applications. Her extensive research spans energy harvesting nanomaterials, microfluidic biosensors, and the additive manufacturing of next-generation flexible electronics for diverse applications including energy, sensing, and biomedicine.

Her appointment is marked by a notable career filled with prestigious accolades. Professor Kar-Narayan was recognized as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering by the Women’s Engineering Society in 2021. In 2023, she received both the Royal Society of Chemistry Peter Day Prize and the Institute of Physics Lee Lucas Award. Most recently, she was honored as the Innovator of the Year at the Electronics Weekly Women Leaders in Electronics Awards in 2024.

As the Editor-in-Chief of APL Electronic Devices, Professor Kar-Narayan will lead the journal in its mission to advance research and innovation in the field of electronics and devices. The journal will provide a dynamic platform for the dissemination of groundbreaking research, fostering the growth of the electronics community and supporting the development of new technologies.
