Project MUSE is inviting to participate in an online conversation, open now through January 31, 2021, to inspire the agenda of MUSE Meets 2021: Envision What is Next virtual conference in April 2021. Joining others in the community will help imagine the future of digital scholarly communications in the humanities and social sciences.
Project MUSE is using IdeaScale – an innovative virtual brainstorming platform – to facilitate the conversation and identify the most compelling ideas for speakers, panels, and roundtables to discuss at the free virtual event. The platform allows participants to post new ideas, vote and comment on the suggestions of others, track which ideas generate consensus and enthusiasm, and connect with colleagues who share similar concerns and priorities.
Participation in the conversation will help Project MUSE to create an event that will be compelling, constructive, and inspiring for all members of its digital scholarly publishing community. The IdeaScale conversation will close on January 31, 2021, to allow the MUSE team time to synthesise the themes and suggestions to continue the conversation at MUSE Meets 2021.
MUSE Meets 2021: Envision What’s Next is an expanded and reimagined version of MUSE’s annual publisher’s meeting. It aims to take full advantage of the online format to broaden the participation of key stakeholders throughout the academic community and launch a more inclusive discussion of the digital future of scholarly communications. The virtual gathering will also serve to cap MUSE’s 25th anniversary, which has been celebrated online in 2021 after long-planned in-person events were cancelled.
In addition to the usual forums and information sessions designed for MUSE’s participating publishers, the expanded conference in April will also include programming for librarians, scholars, and administrators, all free of charge. Most importantly, the reimagined format is designed to create new opportunities for the vast MUSE community to connect and interact, share ideas and concerns, and consider a future full of opportunities and challenges for digital scholarly communications.
The final agenda, along with details on how to register for the free virtual event, will be available in March 2021. MUSE Meets 2021 will be started on April 27, with a Conference Welcome & Project MUSE 25th Anniversary Celebration. More information can be found at the conference information page.
