ProQuest, part of Cambridge Information Group, launched the ProQuest Hospital Collection at the Medical Library Association's Annual Conference in Chicago this week. ProQuest Hospital Collection centralises access to discovery and advisory tools essential to the practice and business of health care and is the first collection to address the area of hospital information needs with a single resource.
ProQuest Hospital Collection assembles five top health and medicine databases, and includes full text articles from 2,100 seminal medical journals, including full text of The New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet. Also, it includes over 19,000 doctoral dissertations, providing cutting edge research, as well as resources in the burgeoning field of evidence-based medicine.
Databases include ProQuest Health and Medical Complete, which offers in-depth coverage from leading medical publications; ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source, covering nursing, allied health, alternative and complementary medicine including full text evidence-based nursing resources; and ProQuest Psychology Journals, which deliver full text from leading psychology and psychosomatic publications. Two additional databases - ProQuest Health Management and ProQuest Family Health - significantly expand the information needs that the latest resource can serve. ProQuest Health Management delivers resources for professional health care administrators and those managing the business of health care, while ProQuest Family Health covers a vast array of subjects of interest to the hospital patient including sports injuries, women's health, food and nutrition, eye care and dentistry.
ProQuest Hospital Collection is projected as a major addition to ProQuest's growing presence in the medical information market. The company has an active product development programme dedicated to delivering a variety of new health and medicine information tools that will accelerate research at all levels.
