Researchers who use ProQuest's Ebook Central® platform will soon be able to download more than 100,000 DRM-free full books and DRM-free chapters from nearly 1 million books for access on any device. The move is part of ProQuest's ongoing commitment to improve usability and remove obstacles to access.
These books come from leading academic publishers like Cornell University Press, NYU Press, Harvard University Press, IOS Press, and dozens more. They also cover nearly every discipline - including arts, humanities, business, medicine, education, science and technology.
The Ebook Central platform’s DRM-free titles will be available on a concurrent user basis with no sign-in or special software required to retrieve them. Patrons will not be subject to print, copy, or download limitations, and they can download both chapters and full titles from the book's landing page or the reader.
ProQuest's ever-expanding offering of DRM-free ebooks also includes 237,000 titles available via publisher platforms on the OASIS web-based search, selection and ordering service. The addition of these Ebook Central titles gives ProQuest customers access to more than 300,000 DRM-free titles.
Libraries can purchase these books on a title-by-title basis, via subscription, or through usage-based acquisition models like demand-driven acquisition (DDA) and access-to-own (ATO) from preferred ordering services - including the LibCentral®, OASIS® and GOBI services. They will also have the additional option to purchase a DRM-free unlimited user version of a title, or a limited user model with standard DRM protection, to maximise their budgets and develop more flexible collections.
